An essential part of a framework to help understand the change coming is the shift to fleets- when cars are centrally owned and operated. Services like refueling and repair can be centralized, with implications for the real estate these services currently occupy and the businesses that currently provide them.

Another fun thing to think about in our fleet-based future is how it enables radical experimentation and innovation around the cars themselves. Instead of having to bring consumer products to market (slow, expensive, and risky) manufactures can experiment within fleets that they or partners own/operate. Makes the daunting task of new entrants (like Faraday Future) seem feasible. Hydrogen fuel cell infrastructure chicken and egg problem? Easier, you only need to build a couple refueling stations to service huge metro areas.
